Bishops College Water Treatment Project

Delivering Reliable Water Security for a Leading Educational Institution

Bishops College partnered with Marlin Technologies Group (MTG) to develop a sustainable water treatment solution capable of supplying high-quality potable water to the school campus and boarding facilities.

The objective was to maximise the use of available borehole water, reduce dependence on municipal supply, and provide a reliable source of water that complies with SANS 241 drinking water standards.

Following a detailed assessment of the borehole water quality and the College’s operational requirements, MTG designed and installed a fully automated water treatment plant tailored to the campus’s current and future needs.

About the Water Treatment System

The treatment plant was engineered based on comprehensive water quality analysis to ensure optimal treatment performance and a consistent supply of safe drinking water.

System Features

  • Multi-stage media filtration for the removal of suspended solids and impurities
  • Micron filtration for enhanced water polishing
  • Water softening system to reduce hardness and protect infrastructure
  • Chlorination system for disinfection and bacteria control
  • UV sterilisation for additional microbiological protection
  • Fully automated control and monitoring system
  • Municipal water backup integration for uninterrupted supply when required

As part of the project scope, MTG also completed the supporting infrastructure required for successful operation, including:

  • Construction of reinforced concrete foundations
  • Installation of a prefabricated treatment plant housing unit
  • Installation of an 80,000-litre bulk water storage tank

To ensure ongoing compliance and operational reliability, MTG conducts monthly water quality testing and monitoring.
