The Ridge School was experiencing ongoing water interruptions and low pressure due to its elevated location. These challenges disrupted daily operations and created uncertainty for both staff and learners.

To address this, the school partnered with Marlin Technologies Group (MTG) to develop a reliable, long-term water solution.

Phase 1: Immediate Water Supply Stabilisation

MTG began by resolving urgent water supply issues affecting the Headmaster’s residence and on-site staff housing.

A backup storage tank was installed on the municipal supply, significantly improving water flow and pressure to these areas. This ensured that key personnel had consistent access to water while a broader solution was being developed.

Phase 2: Full School Water Treatment System

Following the successful stabilisation, MTG designed and implemented a permanent, sustainable solution using the school’s three on-site boreholes.

System Overview

The custom-designed plant processes 30,000 litres of water per day and includes:

• Two 10,000-litre raw water storage tanks
• High-performance plant pumps to drive the filtration process
• AFM filtration for efficient sediment removal
• Water softening system to reduce hardness
• Activated carbon filtration to improve taste, clarity, and odour
• Chlorination for disinfection and bacteria control
• Sodium hydroxide dosing for pH balancing
• Bulk storage tanks supplying treated water across the school

To enhance sustainability and reduce operating costs, the entire system is powered by solar energy, ensuring reliable operation even during power interruptions.
