St John’s College

The client requested MTG to build a water treatment system from November 2023 to March 2024 that will cater to the school and boarding house requirements. MTG proposed a treatment plant that will supply sufficient daily water in accordance with client requirements and also meet SANS 241 standards for potable water.

About the Water Treatment System:

The system was designed based on water sample results to process enough water so that the boreholes can produce. The filtration system comprises hydrogen peroxide, media filtration, micron filtration, a water softener, chlorine, and a UV sterilizer. The system is fully automated. MTG provided training to maintenance staff on how to maintain the system. MTG takes monthly samples for testing. The project included civil works, a prefab housing unit, and 2 x 52,000L Reservoir storage tanks.

Benefits and ROI:

The college uses all the available treated borehole water to reduce reliance on municipal usage. ROI is estimated to be achieved within 24 months.
