Our journey began in 2019 with discussions on various Water Management Projects and activities within the College. MTG then entered a tender process in early 2021 and submitted our proposal in April 2021. The overall integrated project was awarded to MTG in August 2021, and we officially broke ground on it soon thereafter. The project successfully went live (cutover) in February 2022.
About the Water Treatment System
The system was designed based on water sample results to produce enough water to supply all the boreholes on the campus. The filtration system is made up of flocculation, pH balance, media filtration, filtration, and chlorine dioxide. The system is fully automated. The system met SANS 241 potable standards, and MTG takes monthly samples. MTG also installed 3 x big reservoir tanks. Pure Care donated a learning center for the academic program at the College to educate all on the importance of water.
Benefits and ROI
The College Campus has 7 active boreholes that provide enough water to support the demands for irrigation and potable uses. There is reduced reliance on the municipal supply, and there is a continual focus on further reducing municipal supply consumption. After the capex investment made in 2021, the College achieved its ROI within 20 months.
