Institution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between November 2023 and March 2024, St John\u2019s College partnered with Marlin Technologies Group (MTG) to develop a sustainable water treatment solution capable of meeting the daily water requirements of both the school and boarding facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective was to maximise the use of available borehole water, reduce dependence on municipal supply, and provide a consistent source of high-quality potable water that complies with SANS 241 drinking water standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a detailed assessment of the site&#8217;s water quality and operational requirements, MTG designed and installed a fully automated treatment plant tailored to the College\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the Water Treatment System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The treatment system was engineered based on comprehensive water analysis and borehole production capacity to ensure reliable treatment performance and long-term operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>System Features<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hydrogen peroxide dosing for oxidation and water conditioning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multi-stage media filtration for effective removal of suspended solids and impurities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Micron filtration for enhanced water polishing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water softening system to reduce hardness and protect infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chlorination system for disinfection and bacteria control<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UV sterilisation for additional microbiological protection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fully automated control and monitoring system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the project, MTG also delivered the supporting infrastructure required for successful operation, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Civil works and site preparation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation of a prefabricated treatment plant housing unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three 52,000-litre reservoir storage tanks, providing a combined storage capacity of 156,000 litres<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure long-term reliability and compliance, MTG provides ongoing monthly water quality testing and monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, MTG conducted comprehensive training for the College\u2019s maintenance team, equipping staff with the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain the system effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Results &amp; Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reduced Reliance on Municipal Water<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The College now maximises the use of treated borehole water, significantly reducing dependence on municipal water supplies and improving water security across the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Safe, High-Quality Drinking Water<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The treatment plant consistently produces water that meets SANS 241 potable water standards, ensuring safe and reliable water for learners, staff, and boarding facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Improved Operational Efficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fully automated system reduces manual intervention, enhances reliability, and ensures consistent treatment performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Enhanced Water Security<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With over 100,000 litres of treated water storage capacity, the College has increased resilience against municipal disruptions and periods of peak demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rapid Return on Investment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By reducing municipal water consumption and making better use of available groundwater resources, the project is expected to achieve a return on investment within approximately 24 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Investing in a Sustainable Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The St John\u2019s College Water Treatment Project demonstrates how innovative water management solutions can provide long-term operational, environmental, and financial benefits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through advanced treatment technology, automation, staff training, and ongoing support, MTG has helped the College establish a dependable and sustainable water supply for future
