{"id":7492,"date":"2026-09-03T10:33:21","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T08:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marlintechnologies.co.za\/mtg\/?post_type=portfolio&#038;p=7492"},"modified":"2026-09-03T10:33:22","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T08:33:22","slug":"thaba-eco-village","status":"publish","type":"portfolio","link":"https:\/\/marlintechnologies.co.za\/mtg\/portfolio\/thaba-eco-village\/","title":{"rendered":"Thaba-Eco Village Water Treatment Project: Advancing Water Security Through Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">water security becomes increasingly important in South Africa, leading property developers are looking for sustainable solutions that provide reliable water supplies while managing long-term operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marlin Technologies Group (MTG) partnered with Balwin Properties at <strong>Thaba-Eco Village Lifestyle Estate<\/strong> to deliver a future-focused water treatment solution for the Thaba Lifestyle Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Project Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MTG was appointed to design and implement a fully integrated water treatment plant capable of treating borehole water to <strong>SANS 241 potable water standards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system currently produces approximately <strong>15,000 litres of potable water per day<\/strong>, with the design allowing for future expansion as the development grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The borehole source presented elevated hardness levels, requiring a specialised multi-stage treatment process incorporating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced media filtration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water softening<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemical dosing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final ultra-filtration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potable water storage and distribution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automated monitoring and control<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system was designed with reliability and long-term performance in mind, incorporating redundancy, ongoing water quality monitoring, and a comprehensive maintenance programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Results &amp; Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reduced Municipal Dependence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lifestyle Centre can produce its own potable water from the on-site borehole, reducing reliance on municipal supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>High-Quality Potable Water<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The treatment plant produces water that meets <strong>SANS 241 potable water standards<\/strong>, providing a safe and reliable supply for the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scalable Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plant has been designed to accommodate future capacity increases as Thaba-Eco Village continues to develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Improved Water Security<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The integrated system provides greater resilience against municipal supply interruptions and supports the long-term operational needs of the development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strong Return on Investment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By reducing municipal water consumption, the project is expected to achieve an estimated <strong>return on investment within approximately 21 months<\/strong>, demonstrating the commercial value of investing in sustainable water infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Building Water Security for the Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Thaba-Eco Village project demonstrates what can be achieved when innovative property development is combined with specialised water treatment expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through its partnership with Balwin Properties, MTG has delivered a <strong>reliable, scalable and commercially viable water solution<\/strong> that supports the Thaba Lifestyle Centre today while being ready to grow with the development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sustainable water infrastructure.
